I found a box of beer in the snow
It wasn’t all empties and it wasn’t all froze
hallelujah I found a box of beer in the snow
we met at the arena on a friday night
she wore her mitts and scarf and toque just right
she made me maple syrup pancakes on monday mornings
we we’re talking about a wedding i was shopping for rings.
we we’re drinking beers and playing hockey on tv
when we got in a fight about don cherry
if the river was whiskey and i was a duck
i’d sink to the bottom like an old hockey puck
this snow bank is cold guess i’ll try to stand up
we could drink these together or finally break up
i found a box of beer in the snow
guess i’ll drink until its empty or my hearts less broke

Grapefruit
The morning is such a rough time
I peel a grapefruit
I taste the sunshine
Grapefruit, such a great fruit
help me start my day grapefruit
i’ve been told
grapefruits the fruit for those getting old
but the elderly must be wiser than me
look at all the days they’ve seen
grapefruit such a great fruit
help me see old age fruit
some say bitter
I say divine
the clergy man he eats grapefruit all the time
and he talks to the wholiest of holies.
So grapefruit such a great fruit
give me strength to pray to Jesus fruit
I try to eat one
every other day
but there so unsustainable
they come from so far away
at least two thousand miles they’ve seen
so grapefruit such a great fruit
make me wanna pack up and move away fruit
The morning is such a rough time
I peel a grapefruit
I taste the sunshine

Singing (don’t pay the bills)
On the day I was born verse D A G D
The doctor spank’d my bottom chorus G D A D
And I started to sing
Oooiooh. Waaaaaahaha
Dream’d my name in lights
But singing don’t pay the bills no more
And singing never paid the bills before
I can’t find no job
So I can’t afford no beer
And I love beer
Beer keeps me drunk
And drunks as good as happy
But I’d rather be singing
But singing don’t pay the bills no more
And singing never paid the bills before
To just scrape by
I don’t see the point
Working nine to five
I’d rather be sober
Picking my banjo
And feeling so alive
